James Kuan, M.D.

A guiding principle in Dr. Kuan’s practice is to provide care that optimizes and improves a man’s quality of life, and a large part of his practice is devoted to men who suffer from urinary and  sexual issues after prostate cancer treatment. As a prosthetic urologist, he offers men comprehensive care for urinary incontinence (artificial urinary sphincter and urinary sling) and erectile dysfunction (penile implant).  He offers non-surgical and surgical management for Peyronie’s Disease as well as No-Scalpel / No-Needle Vasectomy, with option of same-day consult and procedure. 

Dr. Kuan joined Swedish Urology Group in 2007 from the University of Washington where he was on faculty and received fellowship training in Urologic Trauma and Reconstruction at Harborview Medical Center.  Raised in Canada, he is a medical graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, and completed his Urology training at the University of Western Ontario. He is American board certified and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and textbook chapters on the topics of trauma, urethral reconstruction and erectile dysfunction.  Dr. Kuan currently is the past Chief or Urology for Swedish Medical Center and is the past Medical Director of Urology for the Swedish Ballard campus.  To learn more about Dr Kuan and his practice follow this link:
