Erik L. Torgerson, M.D.

Dr. Torgerson joined Swedish Urology Group in 2000. He received his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine where he graduated with honors and was named to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He trained in General Surgery and Urology at the University of California, Los Angeles. As a resident, he participated in prostate cancer research. He received numerous accolades during his training at UCLA including the Willard Goodwin Award for Excellence in Resident Education, Resident of the Year (1995), Department of Surgery, and Golden Heart Award/Resident of the Year (1994), Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr Torgerson's interests in Urology include voiding dysfunction/incontinence, benign and malignant prostate disease, stone disease and vasectomy. He is also very involved in the training of other physicians in radioactive seed implantation for prostate cancer through the Seattle Prostate Institute.

Since joining Swedish Urology Group, Dr. Torgerson has helped develop the Swedish Incontinence Center/Referral Service and currently serves on the Swedish Medical Center Cancer Committee. January 2009 to January 2013, Dr. Torgerson was Chief of Urology at Swedish Medical Center.  He currently serves as the Chair of the Surgical Quality Review Committee.   Dr. Torgerson has also been named multiple times as one of Seattle's best urologists by both Seattle Metropolitan Magazine and Seattle Magazine.

Dr Torgerson was raised in Houston, Texas but his family roots are in the Northwest. He is married with two children. His hobbies include foreign travel, foreign languages and skiing. He is fluent in Italian and Spanish. Dr Torgerson's wife is an Italian native and he hopes one day to spend more time enjoying the Italian culture and countryside.
